Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Cardiac Device Specialist who can be a Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist. You will educate patients on device knowledge and manage device testing, documentation, and reporting across HER and vendor sites.

The role requires EKG understanding, ACLS/BLS, and MA certifications from SAHS-approved agencies. Travel between clinics may be required, with a 40-hour workweek and daytime shifts.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Medical Assistant – OR - In lieu of the MA certification , must possess a high school diploma or equivalent , or have an equivalen t combination of education and experience .
  • MA certification required from one of SAHS approved agencies: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, NPCE MA
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Understanding of EKGs , external and internal cardiac monitors, pacemakers and defibrillators required .
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification required at hire in all units, unless ACLS already.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education to patients regarding manufacturer equipment and device knowledge.
  • Care for Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups as applicable.
  • Support efficient clinic flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members.
  • Ensure accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Device Operation/Checks: Interrogate and test internal cardiac devices; upload reports to HER; monitor and create remote download reports for physicians.
  • Review accuracy of downloaded device information and enter into manufacturer sites and EHRs.
  • Complete required didactic and competency training on hire and annually.
  • Schedule patients for appointments.
  • Develop systems to maintain readiness for audits (FDA, DNV, CMS) using Smartsheets, Tableau and other programs; ownership of high-risk FDA recalls and follow-up.
  • May be required to travel between clinics.

The Boise Heart Institute is now hiring for a Cardiac Device Specialist that can be either a Medical Assistant OR Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist!

Position Summary & Highlights
  • The Cardiac Device Technician takes responsibility for performing interrogations and device testing of internal cardiac devices including cardiac pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, and loop recorder procedures according to protocol and professional standards.

What You Will Do
  • Provide education to patients regarding manufacturer equipment and device knowledge.

  • Competently care for the following age groups: Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric as applicable.

  • Support efficient clinic flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members.

  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.

  • Device Operation/Checks:

    • Interrogate and complete device testing of internal cardiac device per competency guidelines.

    • Upload all interrogation and device testing reports to the HER per competency guidelines.

    • Monitor and create remote download reports for physicians through competency guidelines.

  • Review accuracy of downloaded device information, edit the information, and enter it into manufacturer sites and the EHR systems.

  • Complete all required didactic and competency training upon hire and annually.

  • Schedule patients for appointments appropriately.

  • Develop systems to maintain readiness for all audits (FDA, DNV, CMS, etc. ) utilizing smartsheets , Tableau and other programs as needed. Ownership of high-risk FDA device recalls and follow-up.

  • May be required to travel between clinics.

Work Schedule
  • 40 hours a week - 5 - 8 hour shifts, Mondays - Fridays.

  • Around the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a Medical Assistant – OR - In lieu of the MA certification , must possess a high school diploma or equivalent , or have an equivalen t combination of education and experience .

  • MA certification required from one of the following SAHS approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)

    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)

    • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)

    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)

    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)

    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Understanding of EKGs , external and internal cardiac monitors, pacemakers and defibrillators required .

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS.
