Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Observe and record patient behaviors and collect comprehensive histories.
  • Perform physical exams and diagnostic tests including EKGs and Holter monitors.
  • Assist with cardiac device management: interrogation, programming support, troubleshooting, remote monitoring.
  • Review and triage device transmissions; escalate as needed.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and remote monitoring protocols.
  • Administer medications, change wound dressings, and provide post-procedural care.
  • Read device reports to support clinical decision-making.
  • Consult with physicians to determine treatment plans.
  • Support emergency response for cardiac events and device-related complications.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in EMR and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate with external vendors on device monitoring and alerts.

Job description

As a Cardiac Device RN, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to treat patients with a variety of cardiac conditions and illnesses, including those requiring cardiac ambulatory monitors and cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) management such as pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Observe and record patient behaviors; collect comprehensive patient health histories, including cardiac and device-related history
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests, such as EKGs; apply and download Holter monitors and other ambulatory monitoring devices
  • Assist with cardiac device management, including interrogation, programming support, troubleshooting alerts, and remote monitoring of pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders
  • Review and triage cardiac device transmissions, identifying abnormal findings and escalating concerns to providers as appropriate
  • Counsel and educate patients and their families on treatment plans, including cardiac device care, precautions, and remote monitoring protocols
  • Administer medication, change wound dressings, and provide post-procedural care for device implantation patients
  • Read and interpret patient information and diagnostic results, including device reports, to support clinical decision-making
  • Consult with physicians and supervisors to determine appropriate treatment plans, including device-related interventions
  • Support emergency response as needed, including management of cardiac events and device-related complications
  • Research and implement ways to improve healthcare processes and patient outcomes
  • Complete and maintain accurate medical records within EMR systems
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
  • Work closely with external vendors to monitor CIED devices, protocols, and alerts.
  • Consult with office staff and other internal teams for patient monitoring and communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical practice environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to local offices
  • Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythms and willingness to learn cardiac device management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a clinical practice environment
  • Experience in cardiac or vascular healthcare
  • Hands-on experience with pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders
  • Familiarity with cardiac device monitoring systems
  • Experience with EMR systems

Physical Requirements:

Requires ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
