Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Cardiac Critical Care Intensivist to join the Hartford Hospital team. The role focuses on patients with complex cardiovascular disease, including heart transplant, VAD, and ECMO support, with opportunities for leadership within the ECMO program.

The successful candidate will work in a highly trained Cardiac ICU, with collaboration across APPs, fellows, and residents, and will participate in education and continuous learning within Hartford HealthCare's Heart &

Qualifications

• BC/BE in Critical Care Medicine required or eligible.
• Experience in cardiac ICU and advanced cardiovascular care preferred.
• Cannulation experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease including pre- and postoperative care, heart transplant and/or VAD, and acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO cannulation, impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps).
• Involvement in the ECMO program with leadership opportunities as appropriate.
• Educate APPs, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, residents and interns; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and emergent intubations as needed.

The Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) has an opportunity for an intensivist with a strong cardiac interest and experience to join a team of collegial and highly trained Cardiac ICU staff at Hartford Hospital.

• Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease which can include pre- and postoperative care, heart transplant and/or a Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO cannulation, impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps) and cardiogenic shock
• Opportunities for involvement in our ECMO program
• Leadership opportunities within our ECMO program with appropriate level of experience
• Cannulation experience preferred but not required
• Educational opportunities with APPs, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, residents and interns
• Successful candidate will be able to place chest tubes, and perform bronchoscopy and emergent intubations
• The Hartford Hospital critical care unit is staffed with highly trained advanced practitioners and fellows
• The Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the strongest programs in the country. The Cardiac Surgery service performs approximately 1500 surgeries per year. The Advanced Heart Failure Service is one of the largest in New England, with one of the highest post-transplant survival rates in the nation. HHC HVI performs on average 40 transplants a year.

This is a salaried position. While compensation is presented as an hourly rate for consistency across our postings, this position is paid on a salary basis. The hiring range reflects a good faith estimate of pay for this position as of the posting date. Actual pay will be determined based on qualifications, location, internal equity, and other factors that may include hire bonuses, incentive pay plans, loan repayment, administrative stipends, or relocation.
