As a Cardiac Cath Technician in UVA Health's Cardiac Transition Unit (CTU), you will be an essential member of a collaborative cardiovascular care team. Working alongside experienced nurses and providers, you will support patients through critical phases of care while utilizing advanced skills that go beyond those found in many traditional technician roles.

The Role

The Cardiac Transition Unit is a unique environment that cares for patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures and preparing for discharge. This role combines hands‑on patient care, technical expertise, and close collaboration with nursing staff in a fast‑paced setting where every team member plays an important role.

In a typical day, you will support patients and the care team through responsibilities including:

  • Obtaining and documenting vital signs, intake and output measurements, and patient weights
  • Ambulating patients and supporting safe mobility
  • Assisted with specialized pre- procedure care
  • Assisting with specialized post-procedural care
  • Partnering closely with the assigned RN to ensure seamless patient care and communication
  • Supporting patient flow and helping maintain efficient unit operations

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a highly collaborative setting where clinical skills are continuously developed and utilized. The unit is actively expanding its ability to care for additional overnight patients, making this an exciting time to join a growing team that is helping shape the future of cardiovascular care at UVA Health.

  • A unique care environment that blends elements of inpatient and ambulatory cardiovascular care
  • Strong team‑based culture where technicians and nurses work closely together to deliver exceptional patient experiences
  • Exposure to specialized cardiac populations and cutting‑edge cardiovascular treatments
  • Opportunities to grow clinically while working alongside highly skilled cardiovascular professionals
  • Predictable scheduling advantages, including a unit structure that is not routinely open for Saturday or Sunday night shifts

  • An opportunity to join a department with growth initiatives focused on expanding patient capacity and enhancing cardiovascular services

At UVA Health, you'll be part of a mission‑driven organization where your work is recognized, your development is supported, and your contributions make a meaningful difference for patients and families throughout Virginia and beyond.
