Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Technologist functions as the lead person for Radiologic Technologists in the Cardiac Cath Laboratory, for an assigned shift and in this capacity performs lead job duties and/or regularly leads projects or performs specialized responsibilities as a regular part of normal job responsibilities. Serves as the liaison between management, staff, vendors and physicians for routine matters as the primary point of contact for resolving questions and issues for Technologist jobs as well as support staff, resulting in the delivery of exceptional patient care and adherence to standards of practice for optimal patient safety, quality outcomes, and customer service. Duties may be varied and may include many of the following:

• Assists in maintaining staffing productivity
• Organizes work schedules
• Makes work assignments
• Conducts quality assurance audits of staff performance
• Develops and implements quality improvement activities
• Trains and mentors staff
• Provides feedback on staff performance and developmental needs
• Participates in the development of skills and performance of staff
• Leads and regularly performs special projects
• Collects/analyzes/reports on data
• Prepares reports on performance and metrics
• Other responsibilities of a similar nature and level

This job requires availability to be on rotational call with staff RT and RCIS. Maintains department compliance with TDSHS and TJC guidelines. (This position summary contains the most relevant duties and response guidelines. (Does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.)

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years prior Special Procedure and/or Radiographer experience preferred.
• Membership in related professional organization preferred.
• Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

• Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology.
• Currently licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas.
• Current ARRT Licensure (Technologists that are exempted from the ARRT certification must meet the requirement on Public Law 97-35.)
• Non-Radiologic Technologist must have active certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as an (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist.
• Current certification in Interventional Angiography preferred.
• Must have and maintain current BCLS and ACLS certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
