Job summary

BARNES-JEWISH HOSPITAL in Saint Louis, MO, part of BJC HealthCare, seeks an RN First Assistant (RNFA) to support the Cardiac Cath Lab and perioperative team. The RNFA provides direct patient care and collaborates with surgeons during procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include RN licensure, 2–5 years perioperative experience, and RNFA certification preferred. ADN/BSN/MSN candidates are welcome; CNOR and RNFA credentials are a plus. No night/weekend/holiday shifts for some roles.

Qualifications

• RNFA role with perioperative nursing experience.
• Cardiac Cath Lab exposure preferred.
• Must live within 30 minutes of Barnes Jewish Hospital for call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Delivers intraoperative patient care as the first assistant to the surgeon(s) as a collaborative team member.
• Functions as a member of the surgical team and contributes to the efficiency of the peri-operative department.
• Monitors patient response and modifies plan of care; administers medications per nursing practice.
• Participates in professional development and lifelong learning.
• Advocates for patients and families throughout the perioperative continuum.
