Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Car Body Shell Technician to support manufacturing operations in the Car Body Shell area. You will assist with part placement in jigs, graining, drilling, and finishing tasks, using a range of hand and power tools, while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

The role requires 1–3 years of manufacturing experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to read blueprints and work instructions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; experience in sheet metal/fabrication preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Familiar with basic fabrication processes and tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and emphasize detail.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications (crane) and manlifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing manufacturing operations, place parts in jigs, and prepare finish products with appropriate tools.
  • Perform special processes such as Riveting, Bonding, and Torquing after qualification and approvals.
  • Support line supervisor/manager with daily tasks and process improvements.
  • Use hand and power tools like torque wrenches, drills, and sanders safely and effectively.
  • Assist in inspections and tests (dimensional, watertight) per ALSTOM guidelines.
  • Review drawings to create devices/templates to reduce repetitive work and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure incoming materials from warehouse are stored properly and workspace remains orderly.
  • Maintain safety practices per ALSTOM and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist welders and contribute to quality checks during production tests.

Mission

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of manufacturing operations, part placement in jigs, removing subassemblies from jigs, graining/grinding, drilling, cleaning and/or passivation of finish products with appropriate tools available.
  • Able to perform different Special Processes such as Riveting, Bonding, Torquing by completing all necessary qualification and meeting all requirements.
  • Able to perform other related tasks at the discretion of the immediate line supervisor/manager (PLS/PLM)
  • Ability to use tools such as torque/Allen wrenches, measuring tape, drill, sander (pneumatic/battery)
  • Assist in carrying out inspections (e.g. dimensional) and tests (e.g. watertightness) following ALSTOMs guideline and requirements.
  • Elaborate and suggest the creation of devices/ templates using drawing, to minimize repetitive operations, aiming for continuous process improvement
  • Check reception of materials issued by the warehouse and properly store the materials received, to maintain the order, tidiness and efficiency of the workplace.
  • Ability to obtain the needed certifications (crane) and qualifications (manlifts).
  • Assist and help the Manufacturing into performing the daily production shear tests and Industrial Quality into collecting the welded specimens for tensile testing.
  • Assuring the logistic bins are filled with the correct material and temper for the daily production shear testing or any other testing to assure quality of the final product.
  • Must be able to read blueprints or work instructions, set-up of jigs and fixtures.
  • Must have working knowledge and ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Must have ability to work in a safe manner compliant with all Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Perform caulking and finish sealing operations in accordance with ALSTOM standards
  • Effectively communicatewith Supervision, Engineering Department and the Quality Department discussing design changes or material changes
  • Must be adaptable - accepting different work assignments - maintain a clean working environment
  • The ability to Listen, Learn, comprehend and assist welders to achieve all company and customer requirements.
  • Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.
  • The ability to utilize digital technology in day-to-day work responsibilities
  • Acceptable hand/eye coordination and ability to pass visual acuity test
  • Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience: 1 to 3 years mfg. environment, sheet metal or fabrication mfg. preferred.
