Job summary

The State of Maine Capitol Police in Augusta is seeking an Intermittent Security Agent to monitor entry points, operate screening equipment, and protect the State House Complex. This position is intermittent with up to 1,040 hours per year.

Pay ranges from $17.81 to $24.28 per hour, with duties including reporting incidents, assisting the public, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Maine driver’s license required.
• At least two (2) years of security work experience.
• No criminal history or extensive motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

• Monitors entry to State House and designated facilities for compliance with security protocols.
• Operates screening equipment (X-ray, metal detectors) to prevent prohibited items.
• Searches bags and belongings to detect prohibited items.
• Screens rooms and containers for weapons or threats; maintains logs and seizes items as needed.
• Writes incident reports and coordinates with law enforcement as necessary.
• Provides information and directions to the public to promote safety and order.
