Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in New York seeks an Associate in Capital Risk Management to provide independent oversight of capital risk, defining and reporting metrics and monitoring limits. You will work with risk and finance leaders to develop analyses and present findings that influence risk management decisions.

We seek a strong quantitative background, experience with capital metrics, and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in capital, liquidity, market risk and/or other risk areas; Treasury / Finance background
• Advanced degree in Finance, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline; certification or enrollment in CFA
• Proficiency in areas: LLM, Python, Tableau, Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, dashboard building
• Ability to grasp new concepts and assess potential risks to the firm’s capital position
• Strong knowledge of financial markets and asset classes (loans, repos, derivatives, securities)
• Understanding of balance sheet and income statement fundamentals
• Experience with data-driven storytelling via PowerPoint and Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop thesis and present conclusions
• Demonstrate ownership, self-starter attitude, ability to work independently
• Superior attention to detail and process management
• Advanced degree in FRM would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Monitor regulatory capital metrics against limits; analyze and elevate breaches as needed
• Guide process improvements and automations leveraging AI/LLMs
• Analyze variances in capital metrics (RWA, TLAC, LTD, etc.)
• Independently assess capital management activities (forecasts, actions, stress tests)
• Conduct deep dives into regulatory changes and balance sheet moves
• Prepare board-level analyses and executive presentations
• Monitor current and emerging risks across asset classes
• Interact with capital management, P&A, lines of business and control functions
