Job summary

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Accountant I, Work Order Accountant to join our Accounting team in Fergus Falls, MN. You will help ensure the Company's investments in utility infrastructure are accurately accounted for and reported, supporting capital construction projects from project setup through capitalization and plant-in-service reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting processes, and account reconciliations.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting and reporting of capital construction projects and fixed assets.
• Review and process construction work orders and assist with project capitalization activities.
• Analyze project costs and maintain fixed asset records.
• Support plant-in-service accounting and related reconciliations and analyses.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other teams to ensure timely, accurate project completion.
• Assist with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and month-end close processes.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
