Job summary

Commonwealth Rolled Products in Lewisport, KY seeks a Capital Project Lead to drive large capital projects from concept through commissioning. You will coordinate cross-functional teams and manage scope, schedule, and cost across Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement and EHS to deliver safe, on-time projects that meet business objectives.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
• 7+ years of engineering, construction, or industrial PM experience in manufacturing.
• Experience delivering large capital projects in active manufacturing while maintaining production.
• Proven cross-functional team leadership across Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement, EHS, Contractors, and OEMs.
• Strong knowledge of PM principles: scope, cost, scheduling, risk, change management, and execution.
• Experience managing engineering firms, contractors, equipment suppliers, and external resources.
• Knowledge of construction management, safety programs, commissioning, startup.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of large, complex capital projects from concept through commissioning and closeout.
• Manage all project phases including scope development, FEL studies, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, execution, startup, and performance verification.
• Deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives and operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, resource plans, cost forecasts, and project schedules.
• Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement, EHS, Contractors, and OEM partners.
• Establish project governance processes and provide regular updates to leadership through Steering Committee.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage scope, schedule, and cost changes through MOC.
• Direct engineering firms, construction managers, contractors, and commissioning resources for safe project execution.
• Coordinate contractor activities and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and site requirements.
• Support commercial activities including scope definition, bid evaluations, contractor selection, and vendor negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, permitting, and environmental requirements throughout lifecycle.
• Coordinate with production schedules to minimize disruption; lead commissioning and startup readiness.

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, permitting, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate project activities with production schedules, maintenance outages, and plant operating requirements to minimize business disruption.
• Lead commissioning, startup, performance testing, and operational readiness activities to ensure successful asset deployment.
• Ensure achievement of project performance guarantees, production targets, reliability objectives, and business case commitments.
• Coordinate integration of process equipment, utilities, automation systems, OT infrastructure, manufacturing systems, and digital technologies associated with capital projects.
• Ensure completion and transfer of all required project deliverables including engineering documentation, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, asset data, spare parts recommendations, training materials, and technical records.
• Partner with area business leaders to develop long-range modernization and growth plans that support operational excellence, capacity improvements, reliability, and strategic business objectives.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project team members and promote the use of project management best practices across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of engineering, construction, or industrial project management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience executing large capital projects in active manufacturing environments while maintaining production continuity, minimizing operational disruption, and safely coordinating work during planned outages, shutdowns, and operating conditions.
• Proven experience managing cross-functional teams consisting of Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement, EHS, contractors, and OEMs.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles including scope development, cost control, scheduling, risk management, change management, and project execution.
• Experience managing engineering firms, contractors, equipment suppliers, and external project resources.
• Working knowledge of construction management, contractor safety programs, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software applications.
• Self-starter with the ability to lead multiple complex projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in aluminum rolling, casting, melting, utilities, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
• Formal training and/or certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
