Capital Markets Manager, Structured Products
As the Capital Markets Manager, Structured Products, you’ll help shape and execute the financing strategy that supports Upstart’s AI lending marketplace. You’ll lead complex warehouse, securitization, and other structured financing transactions while partnering closely with investors, banks, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to deliver scalable funding solutions. You have a strong track record within structured finance and are energized by building relationships across Capital Markets participants. You will leverage your technical expertise to review asset‑ and bond‑level cashflow modeling to support structuring discussions and lead negotiations across our Structured Products offerings.
How you’ll make an impact
- Drive the execution of Upstart’s securitization issuances, warehouse facilities, and other asset‑backed financing transactions.
- Build and deepen strategic relationships with lenders, investors, and other key capital markets participants.
- Partner closely with internal and external legal counsel to negotiate, review, and execute financing agreements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders—including Legal, Accounting, Data Analytics, Finance, and Operations—to structure and execute financing transactions.
- Present transaction updates, financing strategies, and market insights to senior leadership.
- Coach and mentor junior team members while contributing to the continued growth of the Structured Products team.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Capital Markets, Structured Finance, Investment Banking, or a related field.
- Experience structuring and executing warehouse facilities, securitizations, asset‑backed financings, or other structured finance transactions.
- Experience developing financial models and analyzing asset‑ and bond‑level cash flows.
- Experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and execute financing transactions.
- Experience building and managing relationships with institutional investors, banks, or other financing partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in capital markets within a fintech or financial institution.
- Knowledge of consumer lending, structured finance, or asset‑backed securities markets.
- MBA, CFA, or bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or another analytical field.
- Skilled in deriving insights from complex datasets using Looker, SQL, Bloomberg, Intex, or similar analytical tools.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with institutional investors, banks, and financing partners.
Time zone requirements
The team operates flexibly between East coast and West coast time zones.
In‑Office requirements
You will be required to work from the New York, NY or Burlingame, CA office once to three times weekly.
Travel requirements
As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to still spend high quality time in‑person collaborating via regular onsites. The in‑person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2‑4 consecutive days at a time.
Compensation
At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location— with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. United States | Remote – Anticipated Base Salary Range
$168,400 – $232,900 USD
