Job summary

Amrize is seeking a CAPEX Category Manager to define and align the strategy for sub-commodities within scope. You will become the subject matter expert for related sub-categories and will lead strategic sourcing activities across large capital projects.

You will develop frame agreements with key suppliers, drive cost savings, and guide cross-functional teams through RFI/RFP processes and complex contract negotiations. Travel is expected ~25%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with at least 5 years of experience
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Field of Study includes Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Economics or Engineering
  • Experience in consultant, project management or sourcing for large capital expenditure activities
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP knowledge or equivalent

About The Role

This role will define and align the overall strategy for the sub commodities within scope. This position will become the subject matter expert for the related sub commodities or suppliers. This role will be accountable to maximize benefits associated with the strategic sourcing of the portfolio of sub commodities under scope.

This position will lead and execute individual sourcing processes within Amrize’s Capital projects. The categories under scope represent a blend of large process equipment, non-process equipment, civil construction, and engineering services across one or two cement plants.

What You'll Accomplish
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Provide leadership in the design and implementation of relevant Category strategies in support of the Global and Regional Procurement organization.
  • Develop frame agreements with main / key suppliers in assigned categories.
  • Achieve targets for strategic sourcing activities; spend coverage, compliance rates and benefits generation.
  • Identify potential cost savings, supplier consolidation and bundling opportunities in assigned Categories.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through sourcing activities and supplier selection activities including: qualitative and quantitative analysis, selection criteria, RFI and RFP development and analysis.
  • Provide subject matter expertise while working with stakeholders and Legal in negotiation of vendor contracts.
  • Drive, develop and execute negotiation strategy with suppliers while managing supplier performance on a structured basis.
  • Act as lead negotiator to execute complex contracts with large cross-functional teams that optimise benefits to the operating company (e.g. performance based contracts) while implementing contracts in business units.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal senior stakeholders (such as Directors, VP, and Executives), key suppliers and third party sourcing partners to enable accelerated achievement of business objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes to actively / consistently manage Holcim’s capex activities in North America.
Relationships With Other Jobs
  • Manufacturing – directly manages all Category interfaces from requirements and Budget development to new product qualification and problem solving
  • Finance – provides Budget and market trend information
  • Legal – coordinates all commercial activity to ensure compliance with all requirements
  • Logistics – manage supply chain elements as they apply to risk and cost optimization
  • Local Procurement – sets strategies and guidelines which can be implemented by Local Procurement when necessary
What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Economics or Engineering

Required Work Experience: Consultant, project management or sourcing experience in large capital expedinture activities.

Required Technical Skills: Proficient/Advance in MS Office Specifically Excel and PPT, Google Mail & Drive. Basic SAP knowledge or equivalent

Travel Requirements: 25% of the time

  • A good balance between empathy and assertiveness when dealing with customers and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and execution skills with understanding of key cost drivers.
  • Good category knowledge (markets, usage, TCO etc.).
  • Strong negotiation capability; ability to develop and manage complex agreements. Familiarity with contract structures (domestic and international), basic legal terms, and legal drafting.
  • Sound knowledge of financial concepts (domestica and international), budget management and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Project management, leadership skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to work indenpendently in a dynamic, amibguous, and newly forming organization.
  • Knowledge of internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
