Job summary

Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe, Washington is seeking a Candlemaking Non Rep Instructor Level A to lead a single Friday class per week for grades 6-12. The role emphasizes hands-on instruction, safety, and engagement in a non-represented, part-time capacity.

Reports to the Director of Sky Valley Education Center; starting date is the 2026-27 school year. Experience with homeschooling or ALE partnerships is preferred. Salary is paid hourly; humane scheduling and district policies apply.

Qualifications

• Documented experience with the assigned activity.
• Experience with school-aged students in an alternative learning environment.
• Knowledge of candle making techniques and safety.
• Ability to provide engaging, hands-on instruction.
• Willingness to support ALE/Parent Partnership model preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach workshops and enforce standards of conduct and rules.
• Supervise and conduct workshops safely.
• Support and enforce Monroe District policies and procedures.
• Ensure workshops are conducted under the supervision of the advisor.
• Teach citizenship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility.
• Monitor attendance, grades and personal conduct.
• Ensure participation complies with district requirements and eligibility rules.
• Maintain related student materials.
• Accompany students on field trips related to the activity.
• Comply with Monroe School District policies and procedures.
• Maintain communications with administrators and other advisors.
• Build positive public relations within the school and with parents.
