Job summary

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Office of State Epidemiology Cancer Registry has an opening for a full-time Cancer Registrar 1 underfill for a Cancer Registrar 2 in Reno or Las Vegas, NV.

The underfill will serve as a subject matter resource for Nevada's cancer reporting requirements and work with hospitals, pathology laboratories, physician offices, and other reporting entities to ensure accurate, complete and timely submission of reportable cancer data to the Nevada Central

Qualifications

• Experience with cancer data collection and abstraction.
• Certification as Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) by NCRA.
• Knowledge of state statutes and regulations related to reportable conditions.
• Ability to train health care practitioners and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor reporting compliance and provide technical assistance.
• Abstract data from medical records and apply coding to ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate activities of contracted abstractors and review data quality.
• Prepare data for annual submission to federal/state agencies.
• Develop and deliver training on reporting requirements.
