The Cancer Center Patient Navigator's primary function is to serve as the primary contact for patients, and referring physician's, waiting to establish ambulatory oncology care at BIDMC licensed cancer centers, or those who are diagnosed at BIDMC and are in a period of transition to other BILH Cancer Center sites. The navigator provides personalized support to ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, efficient, timely, and equitable cancer service at BIDMC. The Nurse Navigator also provides education to patients and staff about the diagnosis and treatment modalities. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader of the service line; reporting is to the Vice President, Cancer Services.
