Job description

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of the Campus Worship Leader is to lead worship during church services and special events. Supporting the Director of Music, the Campus Worship Leader is responsible for fostering a culture of worship within the church campus through musical and spiritual leadership. This individual will lead worship services, develop and mentor volunteer musicians and vocalists, and collaborate with the central worship and production team to ensure alignment across campuses and create meaningful and engaging worship experiences.

Core Duties/Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

Worship Leadership & Service Execution

• Lead worship for weekend services and special events as assigned (at least 3x per month on 4 weekend months and 4x per month on 5 weekend months (other weeks, attend service for observation and team coaching)).
• Participate in church-wide gatherings, ministry events, and special services as needed (e.g. occasional All Team meetings, Good Friday, Encounter, etc.).
• Ensure worship team positions are scheduled and filled via PCO for assigned services, partnering with the Worship Coordinator to make recommendations when positions are needed (Worship Coordinator will send out requests in PCO).
• Collaborate with Campus Music Director on service planning, worship flow, and transitions to ensure musical excellence and spiritual authenticity.
• Lead rehearsals for Sunday Mornings and special events, equipping team members musically and spiritually.
• Prepare and distribute vocal arrangements, charts, and resources for upcoming weekend services on Campus and at times, support other campuses as well.
• Provide coaching and constructive feedback to worship team members to encourage growth and development.
• Oversee Campus weekend Team Time by empowering a team member to share their testimony, lead a devotional or lead a question prompt for the team discussion and facilitate team gatherings, devotionals, prayer times, and other opportunities that strengthen team culture and spiritual formation.
• Partner closely with Campus pastors, production staff, and worship team members to align vision and execution.
• Assist with song selection, arrangement planning, and service flow for weekend services and special events.

Team Development & Pastoral Leadership

• Recruit, develop, and shepherd volunteer musicians and vocalists (or empower someone on the team to lead this); partnering with pastoral care and ministry leaders as needs arise.
• Foster a culture of excellence, humility, teamwork, and spiritual growth among worship team members.
• Disciple and mentor Campus worship team members through coaching, encouragement, and regular feedback.
• Identify, equip, and empower emerging leaders and musicians within the ministry.
• Conduct vocalist auditions, interviews, onboarding, and training of new worship team members to determine cultural fit and once approved, support in onboarding of vocalists with the explanation of team handbook and sharing of team style guides for weekends and special events.
• Communicate ministry expectations, team culture, and worship standards to volunteers

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of worship leadership experience in a church or ministry setting, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop volunteers, and manage multiple responsibilities with strong follow-through.

• Proficiency in vocal leadership and at least one musical instrument.
• Familiarity with worship technology platforms (e.g., Ableton, MainStage, Planning Center, in-ear monitoring systems, and multitracks).
• Competency in music theory and musical fundamentals.
