Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a Utility Plant Electrician to install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment across campus utility plants, with a strong emphasis on safety, code compliance, and minimizing downtime.

You will work with VFDs, metering, and control systems, and must hold a Journeyman license (CO or reciprocal) or equivalent. The role requires work with voltages from 24V to 15kV and relocation assistance is available per department guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2 years of electrical maintenance in a plant/industrial environment.
• Journeyman Electrical License (CO or reciprocal state) is required.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints related to power distribution systems and plant control systems.
• Willingness to work with voltages ranging from 24V to 15kV.
• Must be willing to respond to plant emergencies/outages.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and install electrical equipment and devices within district energy plants, including VFDs, motor starters, UPS systems, and metering devices.
• Coordinate outages, supervise contractors, and ensure safety procedures and compliance with codes.
• Maintain documentation of plant repairs and PMs; schedule tasks and manage parts and materials.
