Job summary

LMU’s School of Film and Television seeks a Projection Technician to operate projection facilities across three LMU venues, coordinate student workers, and ensure safety and quality in screenings.

The role includes maintaining projection equipment, sourcing films for screenings, and coordinating with Facilities and IT. This temporary assignment requires strong troubleshooting, teamwork, and a commitment to an educational, creative learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; continue upgrading knowledge as needed.
• Ability to work independently and on multiple projects with quality results.
• Minimum 3 years in film/video exhibition or engineering technology.
• Advanced knowledge in film projection and/or video exhibition.
• Experience loading and projecting 35mm and 16mm film preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication, with reporting ability.
• Familiarity with Computers and IP Networking Systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee projection equipment operation for class screenings across theaters.
• Assist student workers in projection practices during screenings and events.
• Conduct performance checks and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Advise on maintenance and schedule vendor repairs for projection gear.
• Collaborate with Facilities, IT, and SFTV staff for smooth operation.
• Coordinate rental/delivery/return of DCPs and Film Prints.
• Support special programming with audio/lighting and run-of-show prep.
• Operate equipment during screenings and events; maintain film catalogs.
