Douglas County School District in Highlands Ranch, CO is seeking a Campus Security Specialist - Lead to promote a safe school environment at Mountain Vista High School. You will supervise up to five campus security specialists, monitor access, and enforce safety protocols during a 40-hour work week.

The role involves responding to incidents, coordinating with law enforcement, and upholding district policies.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years related security or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Alternatively, 2 years education in law enforcement, social services or related fields.
• Must be able to lift 5–40 pounds and perform physical activities.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Student Conduct and Discipline Code and refer to admins when needed.
• Monitor visitor access to ensure only authorized entry.
• Supervise student activities and enforce parking rules.

Campus Security Specialist - Lead

Job Description:

Promotes and provides proactive security services and a safe and secure environment at schools and other facilities. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. Provides a positive role model for students and develops and promotes positive relationships with students. Minimum Experience: One (1) to three (3) years job related experience preferred, which may be gained by one (1) to three (3) years experience in law enforcement, adolescent supervision programs or similar activities; or Two (2) years education in law enforcement, social services, behavioral sciences, counseling or similar areas.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting five (5) to forty (40) pounds.
• Frequent sitting.
• Moderate bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching.
• Infrequent, but possible contact with violent youth and/or adults
• Infrequent, but possible physical intervention in assaults and/or fights or physical restraint of students and/or adults

Supervisory Duties: Up to five (5) Campus Security Specialists

Responsibilities:

• Enforce Student Conduct and Discipline Code and other school rules and regulations; administer warnings to students or refer them to building administrators for disciplinary action as necessary to maintain a peaceful environment.
• Monitor visitor access during school hours to ensure only authorized persons enter to maintain a safe and secure campus.
• Monitor and supervise students’ activities at assigned locations in the building and/or on the grounds and enforce parking regulations, issue verbal warnings, written warnings or parking summonses as appropriate to promote a safer learning environment.
• Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or criminal activity. Assess danger and call for assistance if necessary; intervene to halt or prevent fights, disturbances or other incidents and diffuse threatening or confrontational situations between students or others to ensure order is restored and students are unharmed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Assist law enforcement and District Security with enforcement of school District policies on controlled substances and mitigation strategies to promote a drug-free school environment.
• Supervise campus security specialists at location and monitor hours, schedules, overtime hours, and minor disciplinary or performance matters to ensure good communication and adherence to all policies and procedures. Render appropriate first aid to injured persons and follow established protocol for reporting injuries.

• All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
