Job summary

The Silver City Consolidated School District 1 is seeking a Security Guard to maintain safety for students, staff and visitors, patrol campuses, and secure buildings and grounds. The role supports the Associate Superintendent, enforces district policies, coordinates with local law enforcement, and responds to threats or emergencies.

Qualifications

• Proof that the retired or former law enforcement officer was certified and commissioned for no less than five (5) years and left law enforcement in good standings.
• Successful completion of school security personnel training.
• Proof of up-to-date firearms training.
• A background check that indicates the person has not been convicted of a crime or engaged in behavior that violates the School Personnel Act; and any other conditions required by law or PED Regulations.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, secure environment for students, staff and guests on campus.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff and community members.
• Help create and maintain a working relationship with local police and fire/rescue departments.
• Assist in development and implementation of action plans to provide a safe environment and immediate response to threats, incidents or emergencies.
• Regulate students’ behavior on campus, cafeterias, restrooms, parking lots and other areas.
• Assist with controlling disturbances and request assistance from administration or police when necessary.
