Job summary

Simmons University is seeking a Sergeant to join the Public Safety Department as a key leader in community policing on the Boston campus. The role collaborates with Student Life and Residential Life to keep the campus safe, welcoming, and compliant with laws and university policies.

Responsibilities include supervising patrols, overseeing communications, investigating incidents, and mentoring officers while upholding high ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from a Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) approved academy and/or obtained a permanent exemption; POST certification; Special State Police powers per M.G.L.

Responsibilities

• Protects life and property of the University community.
• Patrols the campus regularly and supervises dispatch and security booth activities.
• Investigates incidents involving on-duty department members.
• Maintains records, logs, and reports; signs off on subordinate reports.
