Job summary

Heidelberg University seeks a part-time Security Officer to protect students, faculty, staff and visitors while enforcing campus policies. You will patrol, respond to emergencies, unlock facilities, monitor alarms, escort people and report incidents.

The role requires flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and possible on-call duties. The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree in a related field with 1–2 years of safety or security experience; a Bachelor’s degree and more experience are

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, emergency management, or related field; and 1–2 years relevant experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field; 3+ years progressively responsible experience.
• Prior experience overseeing safety/security departments in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily activity log and record shift activity.
• Assist training of new student personnel.
• Complete fire drills in campus buildings.
• Fuels and maintains security vehicles; conduct safety inspections.
• Enforce Heidelberg University policies and regulations.
• Patrol parking areas and enforce parking regulations.
• Unlocks/locks facilities; check emergency lighting, locks and fire alarms.
• Respond to emergencies and assist responders; monitor fire safety equipment.
• Provide campus escorts and routine patrols of buildings and properties.
• Document and report all policy violations.
