Job summary

Greensboro College is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to safeguard the campus community in Greensboro, NC. The role enforces college rules, parking and traffic regulations, and provides security services across buildings, grounds, and events.

Responsibilities include patrolling campus by foot and vehicle, responding to incidents, controlling access, conducting inspections, and providing escort services during large gatherings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 21 years of age.
• Minimum of one year related work experience; training provided.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Good customer relations skills; ability to communicate clearly, think and act quickly in emergencies.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and related software; good report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise, direct and provide information to students, employees and the public.
• Patrol designated areas on foot, by golf cart and vehicle; ensure doors and windows are secured; secure campus property.
• Respond to calls for service and assistance.
• Open/close facilities and monitor alarms; control access to buildings and restricted areas.
• Inspect buildings for security, fire hazards and take preventive or corrective action.
• Provide escort services by foot or vehicle.
• Ensure security for large events (sports and commencements) and supervise crowd activities.
• Complete first aid and CPR training and operate an AED.
• Investigate crimes and disturbances and conduct searches as needed.
• Enforce parking regulations and security rules; cooperate with police.
• Carry mace/pepper spray and handcuffs.
• Additional duties as assigned.
