Job summary

Parkway School District is hiring a School Safety Officer to support security for The Welcome Center and nearby campuses. The role is year-round, non-exempt, and involves patrols, drills, and incident response.

Starting pay is $24.50 per hour, with experience-based advancement, and comprehensive benefits. Qualified candidates will have prior school safety or law enforcement experience, must obtain an armed security license, and complete ongoing trainings.

Qualifications

• Experience as a School Safety Officer or similar role required; 3 years in law enforcement/dispatcher preferred.
• Criminal Background Clearance required and ability to obtain armed security license.
• Education per organization prerequisites and continuing training expectations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with emergency drills and intruder drills to prepare staff and students.
• Communicate safety policies to students, staff and visitors.
• Escort students and visitors to ensure safety on campus.
• Investigate activities impacting school safety and document events.
• Maintain daily activity logs and prepare incident reports.
• Participate in meetings and training to stay current on security trends.
• Conduct property searches as requested by administration.
• Patrol campus facilities and monitor compliance with guidelines.
• Provide traffic control during arrival/dismissal as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with site personnel and law enforcement.
