Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Campus Safety Officer in University Police Department to patrol campus, engage with students and staff, and respond to incidents. The role supports safety through public-facing presence, reporting, and coordination with Campus Police.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience dealing with the public.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive patrols of assigned campus areas to deter crime and report deficiencies.
• Build positive relations with students, staff, and visitors and advise on security improvements.
• Patrol campus during events to manage crowds and direct traffic after events.
• Watch for hazards and respond to fires, spills, or other dangerous conditions.
• Administer first aid and arrange for transportation as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
