Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Valparaiso, IN is hiring a Campus Retail Associate to provide superior customer service and support store operations to keep the bookstore running smoothly and welcoming for students and faculty.

You will handle transactions, greet customers, assist with shelving and housekeeping, and contribute to a positive campus store experience. Perks include Flexible Scheduling, Daily Pay, employee discount, and development programs.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 16 years old and capable of engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills are desirable.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store organized by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.

Responsibilities

Expectations

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
