Job summary

University of Kansas is seeking a Recycling Technician to collect, transport, and process recyclable materials across campus in support of sustainability goals. The role requires operating authorized vehicles and equipment, following routes and schedules, and providing excellent customer service to campus departments.

The position includes a 6:00 am–2:30 pm schedule Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work during high-volume periods, and offers comprehensive benefits including

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license by time of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying temperatures.
• Flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
• Experience in recycling/collection is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform campus-wide collection, transport, and processing of recyclable materials to support University sustainability goals.
• Follow established collection routes and schedules to ensure efficient and reliable recycling services.
• Operate recycling equipment, including compactors and commercial balers, and process materials safely.
• Monitor and respond to service requests and departmental communications to ensure timely customer service.
