Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking a Part-Time: Police Officer 1 to join Public Safety. The role provides protection for faculty, staff, students, visitors, property, and facilities while supporting campus safety operations.

The ideal candidate has active law enforcement status, POST and NCIC certifications, and the ability to work varied shifts up to 32 hours per week. The position involves patrols, reporting, and court testimony as required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard high school with interest in radio operations.
• Must be an active duty sworn law enforcement officer, retired, or recently separated sworn law enforcement officer.
• P.O.S.T certified (Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission).
• Be able to work 20 to 32 hours a week.
• NCIC certified.
• Knowledge of investigations methods and campus geography.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, notes, reports, and investigates suspicious activity in patrol area.
• Patrols campus by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle.
• Ensure building security, traffic control, and parking lot management.
• Investigate accidents and determine probable causes; pursue appropriate action.
• Issue citations for traffic/parking violations and testify in court when needed.
• Maintain records and prepare reports; operate law enforcement equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
