Job summary

Elmhurst University seeks a Dispatcher to serve as the in-office Public Safety representative, answering calls, monitoring alarms, and coordinating with patrol staff, Facilities Management, Residence Life and other offices. This role maintains records and performs data entry for incident reports, parking records and other department information.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM. The position is non-exempt and paid at $19.50 per hour, requiring clear communication via radio

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Ability to speak clearly via radio and phone.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal directives.
• Good hearing and English proficiency.
• Calm, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Comfort with security equipment and dispatch systems.
• Willing to work varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls and walk-up inquiries; gather information for proper response.
• Communicate with 911 and campus personnel to coordinate actions.
• Operate security systems and dispatch equipment; log events.
• Enter incident reports and parking records; maintain daily logs.
• Distribute reports according to procedures; interact professionally with campus community.
• Support emergency procedures and campus safety communications.
