Montana State University in Bozeman seeks a Psychiatric NP or Physician Assistant to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to students within Student Wellness. You will work with an integrated team, provide urgent consultations, and contribute to treatment protocols.

The role emphasizes culturally responsive care for a diverse student body with opportunities for teaching and committee involvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty and current national certification as a PMHNP.
• Or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program with post-graduate Psychiatry fellowship or CAQ in Psychiatry and NCCPA certification.
• Montana license to practice as a PMHNP with Prescriptive Authority or Montana PA license (or eligible).
• Current DEA registration (or eligible).
• Ongoing continuing education in psychopharmacology, diagnostic criteria, and treatment guidelines.

Responsabilités

• Provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic psychiatric health care to MSU students in a compassionate, ethical, and professional manner.
• Obtain comprehensive histories, diagnose disorders, prescribe psychotropic and other medications to treat psychiatric symptoms and substance use disorders.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests as indicated, prescribe appropriate treatments.
• Coordinate referrals to other mental health services and educate patients as needed.
• Collaborate with the MSU Psychiatrist and integrated behavioral health team to support diagnoses and treatment options.
• Provide urgent psychiatric consultation and care for acutely ill students, including same-day access appointments.
• Serve as a resource for Student Wellness providers and field curbside consultations.
• Precept and supervise nurse practitioner students as assigned.
• Participate in committees and integrated treatment teams with Counseling and Psychological Services.
• Engage in Student Wellness outreach, education, and promotional activities.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in psychiatric and behavioral health services.
• Provide culturally responsive psychiatric care reflecting MSU’s diverse student population.
