Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a part-time JMU Police Cadet to patrol campus and assist at events, under supervision. Cadets will maintain safety for students, staff, and visitors and follow directives from supervisors and coordinators.

Candidates must be active degree-seeking students at JMU, enrolled at least half-time, with a minimum 2.0 GPA and the ability to pass a criminal history check. This is an on-campus, non-exempt role with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must be an active degree-seeking student at James Madison University (Freshman status).
• Must enroll at least half-time (6 credits for undergraduate; 5 credits for graduate).
• Must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and pass a Criminal History Check.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the campus.
• Work on special events.
• Secure buildings.
• Provide safety escorts.
• Be a visible presence on campus.
• Obey all requests transmitted by superiors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a Supervisor and/or the Program Coordinator.
• Bring any situation of significance or importance to the attention of a superior.
