Job summary

Community Bible Church is seeking a Campus Pastor to lead the CBC campus with spiritual, relational, and organizational oversight. You will carry CBC’s mission and culture, guide staff, develop leaders, build teams, and connect with the community so people can take their next step with Jesus.

The Campus Pastor serves as the primary leader for the campus, aligning with CBC Nav Leadership and church direction, while modeling CBC DNA in leadership and ministry decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Bible, Theology, Christian Ministry, Education or related field preferred; equivalent ministry experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing ministry programs, events, discipleship strategies, and volunteer development processes.
  • Must demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and be aligned with CBC’s mission and beliefs.
  • Experience as a Huddle leader is recommended.

JOB SUMMARY

The Campus Pastor provides spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership for their assigned CBC campus. This person is responsible for carrying the mission, vision, values, and culture of CBC into the campus while leading staff, developing leaders, building teams, connecting with the community, and creating environments where people can take their next step with Jesus.

The Campus Pastor serves as the primary leader and culture carrier of the campus while remaining fully aligned with CBC Nav Leadership and the overall direction of the church.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • CBC DNA: Champion and protect the mission, vision, values, culture, and direction of CBC. Remain aligned with Nav Leadership and model CBC DNA in leadership, decision-making, relationships, and ministry.
  • High-Capacity Leader: Provide spiritual and organizational leadership for the campus. Lead, coach, develop, and care for campus staff while establishing clear priorities, creating accountability, solving problems, and moving ministry forward.
  • Connector: Build intentional relationships with guests, families, volunteers, key leaders, donors, and people throughout the campus. Maintain a visible presence in the community and develop meaningful relationships with community leaders and organizations.
  • Communicator: Serve as a clear and confident communicator of CBC’s vision, Scripture, ministry opportunities, and next steps. Provide effective leadership during weekend services through host moments, prayer, huddles, and other campus-wide communication.
  • Partner: Work collaboratively with Nav Leadership, Ministry Teams, other Campus Pastors, and campus staff to maintain alignment and consistency across CBC. Implement church-wide strategies, ministry playbooks, and initiatives at the campus level.
  • Multiplier: Recruit, develop, and empower volunteers and leaders. Create a culture where people move from attending to serving, from serving to leading, and from leading to developing other leaders.
  • Multitasker: Effectively manage the people, ministries, priorities, and responsibilities of the campus. Lead through multiple competing needs while maintaining organization, excellence, follow-through, and focus on the mission.
  • Own the overall weekend campus experience, ensuring staff, volunteers, and ministry environments are prepared to serve people with excellence.
  • Provide visible pastoral leadership throughout the campus by connecting with new people, encouraging volunteers, praying with those in need, and helping people take their next step.
  • Empower staff and volunteer leaders to take ownership of their ministry areas, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions.
  • Lead regular staff meetings and one-on-ones focused on prayer, celebrating wins, reviewing metrics, leadership development, accountability, and clear next steps.
  • Review campus metrics and ministry trends to evaluate effectiveness, identify opportunities for growth, and establish appropriate lead measures.
  • Develop staff through regular coaching, performance conversations, and individual development plans.
  • Participate in donor development through intentional relationships, meetings, calls, and follow-up.
  • Continually invest in personal spiritual and leadership development while modeling humility, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission, vision, and ministry of CBC.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular full time position (40+ hours per week). Evenings, weekends, special events and on-call rotation required based on ministry needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout church facilities for extended periods while leading or participating in ministry activities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move equipment, supplies, tables, chairs, and other ministry materials weighing approximately 25-50 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to participate in and oversee activities that may require extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, or moving between indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to participate in or supervise ministry activities, games, retreats, and events that may involve varying physical environments and activity levels.
  • Ability to travel locally and periodically travel for retreats, conferences, mission experiences, and other ministry-related activities.
  • Ability to use standard office and ministry technology, including computers, mobile devices, audio/visual equipment, and other communication tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during special events, as required by the needs of the ministry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Bible, Theology, Christian Ministry, Education or a related field from an accredited institution preferred;equivalent ministry experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing and implementing ministry programs, events, discipleship strategies, and volunteer development processes.
  • Must demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to support and consistently represent the church’s missions. Values, statement of faith and ministry philosophy.
  • Experience as a Huddle leader is recommended.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a variety of settings to include, outside, office and technical settings where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
