Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking a Laborer to support moving and event setup operations within Beach Building Services. The role involves assisting with campus moves, event setups, and time entry, and helping manage surplus property for reuse and recycling.

Candidates should be capable of operating vehicles and equipment for moving tasks, and be prepared for physically demanding work that may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma and a solid work history required.
• Equivalent to six months of experience as a trades assistant or laborer, or six months of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair work preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s License required; Defensive Driving course and DMV Pull Notice program may be required for those operating a vehicle on university business.

Responsibilities

• Assist and complete campus moves and event setups.
• Enter time into integrated facilities management system.
• Assist in the proper handling of surplus property for re-use and recycling.
• Ensure that vehicles and equipment used for moving purposes are properly maintained.
