Job summary

Georgetown University in Washington, DC seeks a Mail Services Assistant to provide a courteous welcome and efficiently handle mail and package delivery across campus.

Qualifications

  • High-school diploma, or a GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a medium to large mailroom, preferably in a university environment.
  • Possess a valid driver license, be able to lift up to 70 pounds, and be willing to work over-time when required.
  • Proficiency using computers, including word processing programs, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Proficiency entering, transcribing, and maintaining information in written and/or electronic form. Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in verbal, written, and electronic communication.
  • Proficiency using mobile phones and/or other mobile barcode scanning technology.
  • Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation medical card to operate vehicles over 10,000 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers in a courteous and cordial manner to ensure a positive welcoming experience.
  • Operates Mail Services vehicles including large box truck to pick up mail from USPS and other carriers.
  • Receives, scans, sorts and delivers mail and packages across campus.
  • Uses package tracking software and locker systems to facilitate sorting and delivery.
  • Delivers mail and packages to university departments and student locker banks on assigned routes.
