Job summary

Sodexo at University of Hawaii at Hilo is seeking a Cook to accurately prepare and present a variety of hot and cold items for all meals and events, following Sodexo’s culinary standards for quality and safety.

The position is part-time with rotating shifts, offering flexible hours and open availability preferred. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, maintaining safety, cleanliness, and teamwork while meeting client needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food following federal, state, and Sodexo standards to ensure quality and safety.
• Follow recipes and product directions for soups, meats, vegetables, and more.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and requisition supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and safe food handling.
• Support kitchen teamwork and adapt to account-specific needs.
