Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a Temporary Groundskeeper to support daily campus grounds maintenance, turf care, and cleanup. This role requires dependable attendance and a readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with physical tasks and seasonal priorities guiding assignments.

Responsibilities include trimming, planting, operating landscape tools and equipment, and assisting with event setup.

Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general landscape maintenance including trimming, pruning, weeding, edging, mulching, planting, and bed maintenance.
• Assist with mowing, string trimming, blowing, and other turf maintenance activities.
• Perform campus cleanup including litter and debris removal and general site cleanup.
• Assist with planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, and other landscape materials.
• Operate hand tools, power equipment, and grounds maintenance equipment appropriate to assigned work.
• Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and distributing landscape materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Support Landscape Services crews with seasonal projects and other grounds maintenance activities as assigned.
• Assist with preparation and cleanup associated with campus events and other high-priority activities.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged landscape materials, equipment problems, or other maintenance concerns to the appropriate crew leader or supervisor.
• Follow established safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform other grounds maintenance duties as assigned based on departmental and seasonal needs.
