Job summary

STI is seeking a groundskeeper to maintain campus grounds, walkways, and roads to keep a clean, safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will assist the operations division and facilities department, report to the grounds crew leader under the facilities manager, and perform lawn care and landscaping across campus.

Qualifications

• Experience equivalent to one year of full-time labor and trades work including some routine grounds maintenance work.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
• SLPI:ASL rating of Novice range preferred. American Sign Language (ASL) sign classes and skill development support available for selected qualified applicants who do not meet the rating level.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and does non-detailed trimming of trees and shrubs.
• Removes debris to improve campus appearance and safety.
• Operates trimmers, leaf blowers, mowers, tractors, and other equipment.
• Performs building maintenance work and custodial tasks as required by supervisor.
• Maintains campus safety by removing snow and ice from roads and walkways and other safety measures.
• Performs basic routine maintenance on grounds equipment and other small engine equipment on campus.
• Operates various state-owned vehicles both on and off campus.
• Maintains simple records and make routine reports to supervisor.
• Follows safety protocols and uses PPE as necessary.
