Job summary

California State University Long Beach is seeking a Groundsworker to maintain campus grounds under supervision, with a 1.0 time-base and a 40-hour workweek. This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted.

Responsibilities include trash removal, general landscaping, irrigation repairs, and assisting with landscape improvements and campus events. Experience with manual and powered tools is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1 year of grounds maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate manual and powered landscape tools.
• Physically able to perform demanding tasks and lift >40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs trash pickup and diversions across assigned campus areas.
• Weed, plant, water, fertilize, and prune shrubs, hedges, and small trees; use related equipment.
• Operate lawn mowers and power equipment; perform irrigation repairs.
• Assist with landscape improvements and campus events setup/teardown.
