Job summary

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Physical Plant Services invites applications for the position of Laborer/Horticultural Attendant. This position maintains turf and landscapes in an assigned area of campus under the guidance of a Horticulturist supervisor. This is a career progression role with potential advancement as qualifications are met.

Schedule: Mon–Thu 6:00 am – 3:45 pm; Fri 6:00 am - 11:00 am. Hourly Rate: Laborer $10.70, Horticulture Attendant $16.06.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Six semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course.

Responsibilities

• Maintain turf and landscapes in an assigned campus area under supervision.
• Mow, trim, edge, and blow turf; prune, mulch, weed, and apply chemicals for landscape maintenance.
• Assist with landscape installation and planting projects as needed.
• Follow supervisor guidance to ensure campus landscapes meet standards.
