Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Custodian for Facilities Maintenance Operations to perform routine cleaning and support building services across campus buildings. The role emphasizes responsive customer service, safety adherence, and the ability to work independently or with a team under supervision.

Overtime may be required during events and emergencies. The position requires basic English proficiency, a minimum of 1 year cleaning experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Provide responsive customer support in all phases of custodial and related building operations.
• Must be quality focused, customer service oriented and able to routinely communicate clearly in the English language with co-workers and customers in a professional environment.
• Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized industry and university standards.
• May be assigned to work independently or as part of a team under the guidance and direction of the Area Supervisor and/or Crew Chief. Must be available to respond to off-hour emergencies as needed.
• May be required to work occasional overtime in support of business needs.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning of offices, dormitories, laboratories, libraries, classrooms and restrooms.
• Maintains areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner.
• Operates cleaning equipment and handles waste as required.
• May assist with light residential housekeeping during events.
• Upholds safety codes and professional conduct; reports hazards to supervisor.
