Job summary

Bethel University of Tennessee’s Department of Safety and Security seeks an Armed Security Officer to patrol the McKenzie campus, protect students and staff, and respond decisively to incidents. The role covers one 8‑hour shift per day, 5 days a week, with overtime as needed, and may involve off‑campus duties.

Candidates should be 25+, hold a HS diploma, and pursue required licenses/certifications (Armed Security, Aerosol/Handcuff, CPR/AED).

Qualifications

• Be at least 25 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Security Experience Is Preferred.
• Possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Pass a background check, drug screening, and psychological examination.
• Able to obtain an Armed Security License, Aerosol and Handcuff certification, and CPR/AED certification.
• Bachelor Degree
• 1-2 years experience in armed security or comparable experience is desired.
• Armed Security License, Aerosol and Handcuff certification, and CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Engage with campus community to promote a safe environment.
• Conduct regular and random patrols by vehicle and on foot.
• Lock and unlock facilities per department procedures.
• Analyze incidents with de‑escalation techniques when applicable.
• Maintain communication, complete shift notes, and report incidents.
• Respond to calls for assistance and related tasks.
• Perform related duties as required.
