Job summary

The George Washington University is seeking an Appliance Technician within the Facilities, Buildings & Grounds team to support campus operations. You will perform installations, troubleshoot washers, dryers, ranges, refrigerators, and other large appliances for university customers, and ensure safe, efficient operation.

Key duties include connecting water and gas lines, instructing users on proper operation, repairing components, and documenting repairs and estimates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study.
• Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Connect water and gas lines to appliances and check for leaks after installation.
• Inform customers on how to operate the appliances properly.
• Repair and replace defective components found in appliances.
• Dismantle and reassemble appliances to diagnose malfunctions.
• Record keeping, preparing repair estimates, and inventory control.
