Job summary

The Salvation Army in Lexington, MS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of Camp Hidden Lake facilities. You will supervise vendors, assist with event setups, and help ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 3 years’ commercial maintenance experience with carpentry, and proficiency with hand and power tools. Valid driver's license may be required. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational coursework preferred.
• Three years of commercial building and grounds maintenance/repair experience.
• Two years of maintenance and carpentry experience; proficient with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs as assigned.
• Assist with setting up tables and equipment for events; coordinate with vendors.
• Ensure vendors perform work on schedule and within repair estimates.
• Regularly inspect facilities and equipment for issues and leaks.
• Test and diagnose machinery, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; log issues.

Job Details: Job Location: ALM-Camp Hidden Lake - Lexington, MS, Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00Hourly, Job Category: Property, This position is located at Camp Hidden Lake located in Lexington, MS.

Key Responsibilities:

• performs routine maintenance and repairs.
• runs errands; performs plumbing, painting and carpentry repair work; oversees work being done by others including vendors.
• ensures venders perform work as scheduled and within repair estimates.
• assists with setting up tables and other equipment needed for special events.
• regularly cleans building and sanitizes as necessary; performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape.
• Inspects the facilities and equipment on a regular basis to ensure all light fixtures, AC units, program equipment and systems are working properly and free from unnecessary leaks, debris, mold, etc.
• Tests, adjusts, and diagnosis all machinery, heating, cooling, piping, and electrical systems, and records maintenance issues and inspections in accordance with schedules.
• Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical and equipment malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance on, dishwashers, laundry machines, vent fans, playground equipment, etc.; performs minor adjustments.

Physical & Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs).
• Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
• Work requires working with cleaning chemicals and working out doors which may involve discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires driving where there may be discomforts associated noise and traffic

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU::

• High school diploma or G.E.D. with some course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
• and
• three years’ experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds, with two years of maintenance and carpentry experience and good skill in the use of hand and power tools,
• or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

License & Certifications :

• Valid State Driver’s License (if required by duties)
• Certification in one or more maintenance field
