Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Camp Crew member to maintain a clean, safe, and high-quality camp facility across 85 acres. You will collaborate with camp staff to support carpentry, maintenance, event setup, painting, wildlife management, and related duties to uphold IDEA’s standards of excellence.

The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing needs, while ensuring safety and an encouraging environment for campers aged 6–17 within an active school-system

Qualifications

• There are no minimum educational requirements for this position.
• Power tools and hand tools experience preferred.
• Custodial experience preferred.
• Experience working with school-age children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a clean and functional maintenance space that guarantees an enhanced learning environment.
• Maintain the safe operating standard of all equipment.
• Clean the shop weekly
• Maintain all areas of camp to standards outlined in daily duty chart
• Conduct regular sweeps of buildings and activity areas noting areas for improvement
• Respond to Zendesk tickets in a timely manner
• Keep all buildings in safe operating condition.
• Operate and maintain camp tools safely
• Ensure trails are clear of debris and overgrowth
• Keep maintenance area neat and clean at all times
• Lock facility areas at the end of the day
• Report any malfunctioning tools or equipment
• Complete SafeSchools training before year end
• Maintain professional language and a positive attitude around campers and staff
• Learn custodial duties and be available to help when asked
• Spread mulch on trails and move camp furniture for events
• Build camp furniture/items as needed
• Be flexible to meet mission goals
• Attend trainings and work days on time
• Demonstrate reliability and responsibility through attendance and punctuality
