Job summary

Upper Crust Food Service, LLC is seeking Camp Line Cooks to assist Chefs, maintain a clean kitchen, and deliver well-prepared meals to sorority and fraternity houses.

Responsibilities include setting up stations, cooking with various equipment, and upholding safety and sanitation standards; candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work up to 12 hours daily, 6 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations to prepare food and ingredients to use for cooking.
  • Prepare food using various equipment, monitoring and adjusting as necessary throughout the cooking process to ensure optimal results.
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining room.
  • Help with unloading, inspecting, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
  • Enforce sanitation and food safety standards per state and local regulations.

Upper Crust Food Service began with a vision to solve a problem that many Fraternity and Sorority houses face. That problem is a lack of consistency and professionalism in the kitchen. With a focus on great food and personal service, we’ve remained true to our roots. Today, the chefs of Upper Crust Food Service prepare tens of thousands of meals weekly for students across the country.

Camp Line Cooks assist the Chefs with food preparation and maintain a clean kitchen and dining area while following safety and sanitation practices. They follow instructions to cook and deliver well-prepared meals. They navigate the kitchen efficiently and excel at multitasking.

Required Skills and Abilities

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 2+ years of high volume commercial kitchen experience
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Must successfully complete additional camp required background check(s) and camp specific training
  • Have a valid food safety handler and sanitation certification in accordance with state and local regulations or obtain one within 30 days of employment
Special Demands
  • Workweek and hours may vary from 8 to 12 hours per day, up to 6 days a week.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat
  • Required to stand for long periods, up to 8+ hours and perform tasks such as walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • The work environment can be loud and busy, with potential hazards such as hot surfaces, sharp knives, and slippery floors
