Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking an Educator II/Group Leader for Little Apple Day Camp, Sunset Zoo, and Flint Hills Discovery Center. The role involves direct work with youth aged 5–11 and program participants in arts, culture, and recreation.

This seasonal, non-exempt position offers a starting wage of $16.00/hour and requires attending in-service trainings. Shifts are variable; duties include supervising groups and helping develop safe, engaging activities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Experience working with school-age children or youth.
• Background check may be required (KDHE and/or KBI).
• TB test may be required.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Programs all-day activities, including life sports, arts and crafts, games, music, STEAM, culture, environmental science, and outdoor recreation programs.
• Provides supervision and direction to the youth and/or adults assigned to the group.
• Assists in program development to ensure safety, inclusivity, age-appropriate activities.
• Carries out the program activities.
• Accompanies participants on field trips and transports them as needed.
• Maintains open communication with participants and parents.
