Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a dedicated maintenance worker to perform a variety of building upkeep tasks, including painting, repairs, equipment maintenance, and grounds care. You will resolve maintenance issues, keep records, and support event setups as needed.

The role emphasizes safety, physical readiness, and the ability to work with a diverse community while contributing to a well-maintained facility and safe environment for members and staff.

Qualifications

  • One year or more of related experience in general maintenance work.
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Ability to use chemicals safely and read labels/MSDS.
  • Prefer knowledge of diverse populations and languages beyond English.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance of building, including painting and general repairs.
  • Keeps related records and maintains and repairs fitness equipment.
  • Reports and resolves building problems.
  • May service and inspect vans and keep related records.
  • May order maintenance and janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • May maintain grounds, including mowing and weeding.
  • May perform duties such as cleaning, restocking supplies, and setting up for events.

Hiring range: $21.30 - $23.00 / hourly DOE

Responsibilities
  • Performs general maintenance of building, including painting and general repairs.Resolves difficult maintenance problems. Keeps related records.
  • Maintains and repairs fitness equipment.
  • Reports and resolves building problems.
  • May service and inspect vans, and keep related records.
  • May order maintenance and janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • May maintain grounds, including mowing and weeding.
  • May perform various duties such as cleaning building, and replacing soap, paper towels, light bulbs, and other supplies.
  • May set up furniture for special events. May move furniture.
  • May provide day to day instructions to volunteers and staff.

Qualifications

  • One year or more of related experience in general maintenance work.
  • Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
  • Experience in carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing and general building systems.
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  • Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
