Job description

Camp Administrator (Part Time spring, Full Time summer)

Camp JORI – Wakefield, Rhode Island

Camp JORI, a historic Jewish overnight summer camp with nearly a century of tradition, is seeking a Camp Administrator to support our operations. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys keeping systems running smoothly and supporting a mission-driven community.

Working in a camp environment is unique. The Camp Administrator helps keep many moving pieces organized, from family communication to staff paperwork and day-to-day office coordination. In the months leading up to summer, this role focuses on preparing the systems that allow the camp season to run smoothly. This includes organizing camper and staff files, ensuring required forms and documentation are collected, supporting family communications, and maintaining accurate records. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential in helping camp leadership maintain an organized, welcoming, and efficient operation.

The Camp Administrator works closely with camp leadership to manage administrative systems, maintain records, and assist with key operational tasks as we prepare for the upcoming summer season. During the summer months, the role continues to support these administrative systems while also helping the camp operate smoothly on-site. In addition to coordinating office tasks and communications, the Camp Administrator is often one of the first people visitors and families encounter when they arrive at camp, helping create a welcoming and organized environment for the entire camp community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain camper and family records within CampMinder software
  • Respond to phone calls and emails from prospective and current camp families, providing clear and timely information
  • Assist with enrollment administration, including tracking registrations, forms, and required documentation
  • Support email communications and campaigns through Constant Contact
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical files related to ACA (American Camp Association) accreditation, including compiling and managing compliance documentation, policies, and required materials for accreditation reviews
  • Maintain organized digital filing systems for operational documents and camp records
  • Assist with tracking camper forms, health records, and other required paperwork
  • Assist with camp social media
  • Provide administrative support for recruitment, family engagement, and enrollment efforts
  • Coordinate internally with camp leadership to ensure administrative processes are running efficiently
  • Support general office tasks and operational projects as needed
  • Part-time position in the pre-summer months (approximately 10 hours per week), Spring part-time salary: $200 per week
  • Full-time from mid-June to mid-August (ideally living on camp; room and board provided, as well as camp tuition for the Administrator’s camp aged children if desired). Summer full time salary: $600 per week
  • Flexible remote or hybrid work possible in the pre-summer months depending on location

Camp JORI is one of the oldest Jewish overnight camps in the United States and has been creating meaningful summer experiences for generations of campers. Our team is deeply committed to fostering a warm, inclusive, and vibrant camp community.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with Constant Contact or similar email marketing platforms preferred
  • Experience organizing documentation for ACA accreditation or similar compliance processes strongly preferred
  • Experience with Canva preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized systems
  • Comfort working independently and proactively in a flexible environment
  • Professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with families
