Caltrans in California is hiring a Equipment Operator II in Sonoma County. Under supervision, you will maintain state highways, bridges, and landscaped areas, and operate equipment requiring a Class A CDL with tank endorsement.
This permanent, full-time position requires a valid CDL with Tank Vehicle endorsement, a drug screening, and a background check. New hires start at the minimum of the classification or applicable range.

Job Description And Duties
Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or designee, and with the lead guidance from a Caltrans Leadworker, the Caltrans Equipment Operator II is responsible for the general maintenance of the State highways, freeways, landscaped areas, and/or bridges. The incumbent will be required to service, maintain and operate equipment requiring a Class A commercial driver’s license with tank endorsement. When incumbent is not operating equipment, may perform any of the duties outlined in the Caltrans Equipment Operator I, Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker, or Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker as part of their normal duties.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Equipment Operator II exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.

Special Requirements
The position(s) require(s) a valid Class A commercial driver’s license, with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
This position is subject to the Post & Bid process.
